Ministry of Women Development and Human Rights Punjab and Women's Empowerment Group (WEG) has on Monday signed a MoU of strategic partnership for developing White Ribbon Campaign in Pakistan.
Punjab Women Development Minister, Ashifa Riaz Fatayana and Omer Aftab WEG inked the MoU. On the same day, White Ribbon Campaign (WRC), the largest effort in the world of men working to end men's violence against women has been launched in Pakistan starting from Punjab.
On the occasion, the Minister said, "Violence against women is an international reality and women in all countries suffer from male violence so we need to join hands and work together to educate the minority of men to change their violent behaviour. Perhaps the most important part of the White Ribbon idea is the pledge 'never to commit, excuse or remain silent about violence to women'."
Omer Aftab said that we have formed an alliance with the International White Ribbon Campaign to launch it in Pakistan and an international conference would be held in Lahore on November 25, the International Day for the 'eradication of violence against women'.
