The average price of Bangladesh teas fell 2.00 percent to 97.82 taka ($1.40) per kg on a lack of foreign demand at a weekly auction on Tuesday, brokers said.
"More than 1.12 million kg were sold at an average price of 97.82 taka per kg, down 1.66 taka from the last sale. The withdrawal percentage was 8.33," said an official of the National Brokers Limited (NBL), the country's largest tea broker.
Bangladesh buyers only participated in the auction, which saw lower demand in the absence of foreign participants, a market report of NBL said.. Different grades sold at between 83 and 135 taka per kg. The next weekly auction will be held on July 18 with an expected offering of nearly 1.03 million kg.
