The government will establish a training and research center to help enhance productivity in dairy and poultry sectors. The centre will be established at Pattoki in Punjab under the auspices of University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS), Lahore.
The Central Development Working Party (CDWP) of the Planning Commission has approved the project submitted by Higher Education Commission (HEC) in its recent meeting.
Under the project, model research farms will be established to provide comprehensive practical training to veterinary students and in-service veterinarians, farmers, stakeholders and poultry technicians.
The project relates mainly to infrastructure development and human resource development, which are the main objectives of the long-term higher education planning.
