Food processing and packaging company Tetra Pak Pakistan (TP) has established 'Green Media Awards' for those journalists who highlight environmental issues in their writings.
The categories for 2006 awards are reports and news in English and Urdu, and photographs published between June 6 to October 31, 2006 could be sent to the Tetra Pak for entry nomination.
A journalist may submit only one entry on issues such as recycling, industrial pollution, desertification, water resource management, pollution, water management and global warming.
The award will be presented in December 2006. The winners of the first and second prizes in each category will be awarded trophies and cash prize of Rs 50, 000 and Rs 25, 000 respectively.
The award being launched from this year is aimed at honouring journalists that created awareness among public about environmental hazards that have gone far beyond recycling or saving trees.
