The death of well-known poet Ahmad Nadeem Qasmi, left the world of Urdu literature poorer. The legendary poet will be in the hearts and minds of people, who love literature, poetry, fiction and drama. The simplicity in his life and in his entire career would be remembered by his lovers. The last decades of his life make his writing more sublime and take the realities of life more close to their readers.
Ahmad Nadeem Qasmi is a famous name in Urdu literature and journalism. Notably, he would be considered one of the followers of Prem Chand, who pioneered introducing rural culture in Urdu fiction. The beauty of producing rural realities in Urdu fiction was not ignored by him. He was very particular to transform rural life to adjust beautifully in Urdu literature. He was one of the best Urdu writers who went on producing critical articles and poetry with full of energy and consistency. He was idyllic like a rural simplicity and straightforwardness.
Born in Khushab on November 20, 1916, Ahmad Nadeem Qasmi graduated from the Punjab University and started his humble career as a clerk and then switching on to journalism excelled in almost all the creative fields-- a poet, critical writing, drama-writer and columnist etc par excellence rising to the pinnacle of glory. During his long chequered career, he penned down nearly 50 books, while he was bringing out his own literary, Magazine, 'Fonoon'.
The substantial matter is that our legends of literature like, Ahmed Nadeem Qasmi, Ashfaq Ahmed and Qateel Shifai are no longer with us but we have to uplift our own values, and cultural norms from the deep-rooted civilisation and history of this beautiful land. We hope that reflections of our predecessors would provide a glorious path in maintaining our literature with cultural values.
We have no doubt lost a precious jewel of the Urdu literature.
