The Karachi Union of Journalists (KUJ) president Ayub Jan Sarhandi and other office-bearers on Sunday condemned beating up of some journalists and photographers and firing on a van of an electronic media channel during coverage of events related to killing of Allama Hassan Turabi.
They asked the government to take stern notice of the matter and take action against those responsible.
Meanwhile, KUJ office-bearers strongly condemned an incident in which a head of political coalition distributed envelopes amongst journalists after his press conference in the Karachi Press Club the other day.
They said this incident had tarnished the sanctity of the KPC. They welcomed the decision of the KPC to ban entry of that leader. They also announced to take action against KUJ members, who received such envelopes.
