Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) president and former Punjab chief minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif has said Aftab Asghar Dar bravely fought against the dictatorship and rendered sacrifice of his precious life for the sake of democracy.
His services can not be forgotten; rather others should follow his path and struggle for the restoration of democracy and integrity of the country, he made these remarks in his telephonic address at a seminar held in connection with the death anniversary of former Ravi town nazim Aftab Asghar Dar here, on Sunday.
Shahbaz Sharif said there was no compensation to a martyr's sacrifice but a tribute could be paid to such people by keeping their struggle continue.
He said: "We must make commitment with ourselves with firm determination that the struggle and mission of late Aftab Asghar Dar would continue without interruption." He said the best way to keep his memory alive is to continue his efforts.
He said there was no law and supremacy of the constitution in the country and corruption, nepotism, lawlessness, price-hike, unemployment, poverty were on the rise.
In England, close friend of the prime minister Lord Levy was arrested in a corruption case; but in Pakistan corruption mafia was so strong that no action was taken against culprits involved in the illegal privatisation of Pakistan Steel Mills because they were said to be the right hand of high-ups, he pointed out.
Former president Rafiq Tarar, on the occasion, said the blood of the martyr would not go waste; rather it would bring revolution in the country and the dark night of dictatorial rule would soon end.
He said General Pervez Musharraf was following the American agenda aimed at selling the country.
