Snatched and illegally issued mobile phones are frequently used in killing and terrorist activities in the city, Sindh Home Minister Rauf Siddiqui informed the business community on Tuesday.
Addressing members of the Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (KATI), he alleged that the mobile companies are not following the laid down procedure of issuing mobile phones, which creates problems for law enforcing agencies.
He said that one mobile company issued 11640 mobile connections on one national identity card and untraceable address.
He said that the mobile companies also failed to install device to make snatched mobile phones unusable. He said that NIDRA record did not tally with the figures and remains of those who are involved in suicide bomb blasts and killing, which indicate that they are not Pakistanis.
The minister said that the law enforcement agencies have recovered more than 3650 kg explosive in various raids. This explosives was brought to the city to be used in terrorist activities, he added .
He alleged that some forces against Pakistan are trying to disturb peace of the city to gain their ultra motives and killing of Shia Scholar Allama Hasan Turabi is a part of it.
The minister also alleged that in-spite of several apples to remain calm from the Ulmas participating in funeral procession of Allama Hasan Turabi some miscreants entered the procession and fired directly on police party guarding the procession and torched some vehicles and restaurants. However the police party did not retaliated.
He said that the suicide bomber was wearing a jacket carrying over 4.5 kg explosives beside having a hand grenade in his hand. Investigation in Allama Hasan Turabi killing is in progress and there is hope to apprehend the culprits behind killing soon.
He advised traffic police to arrest those who violate traffic signals. Welcoming the guests, Chairman KATI, Gulzar Firoz said law and order situation has deteriorated considerably in the last four months. He said that the incidents of car and mobile phone snatching at gunpoint are rising at alarming rate.
