Experts at Child Rights and Abuse Workshop have stressed the training of the people in recognising child abuses and saving children from various types of abuses.
The training workshop was organised by Child Rights and Abuse Committee of the Southern Punjab Pakistan Pediatric Association, while Multan Nishtar Medical College and Hospital principal Professor Dr Laique Hussain inaugurated it.
He stressed the need for training on such topics that will help save the children from various types of abuses. He appreciated the work done by the Child Rights and Abuse Committee, Pakistan Pediatric Association for the Protection of Children from abuse and neglect. He added that such an organisation was very necessary to keep the people aware of such issues that had direct bearing on their future.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Tufail Muhammad from Peshawar, who is also chairman of the Child Rights and Abuse Committee - Pakistan Pediatric Association, briefed on the history of the child rights efforts of the committee.
Dr Naeem Zafar from Lahore gave a brief account of the formation of the Hospital Child Protection Committee at Lahore. He opined that the experiment had been very successful and hoped that this would be started in Multan too. Dr Ayesha Mehnaz from Karachi also told about her experiences of the committee in two hospitals of the Karachi.
Dr Ghulam Mustafa expressed his great satisfaction with the hospital co-operation. He thanked the principal for sparing his time and accepting the committee's chairmanship. Dr Pervez Akbar Khan, Dr Imran Iqbal, Dr Haroon Khurshid Pasha and others also addressed the opening session. A large number of eminent doctors, nurses, psychologists, lawyers, police officers and psychiatrists are attending the workshop. Certificates will be given to the participants while the Multan DCO will be the chief guest at the closing ceremony on Tuesday.
