The women development ministry will give awards to women, who have devoted their lives for women empowerment and advancements. Sources told Business Recorder on Thursday that awards would be given on Fatima Jinnah Day (July 31).
They said the ministry had collected names of the distinguished women for this purpose, adding women from the four provinces, Fata and Fana have also been included in the awards list.
Awards will be distributed among women for their achievements in health, education, law, politics, agriculture and sports fields. Awards will also be given to outstanding handicapped women, sources added Sources said that awards will also be given to some males, who have contributed towards women empowerment.
They said that dignity and the status of women and men as equal citizens is a moral imperative, constitutional obligation and guiding principle of an egalitarian and progressive society. This requires concerted action by state and the society to motivate change and adopt measures to achieve desired goals for the advancement of women, they added.
