Punjab University Vice Chancellor Arshad Mahmood distributed cash prizes of Rs 200,000 amongst female students who won positions for Punjab University in All Pakistan Inter-University Games during year 2004 and 2005 under the arrangements of Higher Education Commission (HEC).
Speaking on the occasion, Arshad said that Punjab University has been a leading university in inter-university competitions as it won HEC All Pakistan Inter-Universities Sports 2005 and declared first out of 37 various universities of Pakistan with 809 points and 71 gold medals.
In 2004 also Punjab University scored first position with 26 gold medals. He said that Punjab University is the first university to start Department of Sports Sciences and Physical Education with Master and PhD programmes.
