The rupee in the open market on Thursday gained 20 paisa for buying at 60.60 and picking up 15 paisa for selling at 60.70, respectively. The rupee, however, lost 45 paisa versus the euro for buying and selling at Rs 76.30 and Rs 76.40, dealers said.
The dollar fell versus the major currencies following the Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke's statement in which he said that inflation would ease in the coming days.
INTERBANK RATES: The rupee shed three paisa against the dollar for buying and selling at 60.32 and 60.33 amid rising demand for the US currency, dealers said. Tight supply position pushed the rupee's value down and it looks that the rupee may depict further weakness in the coming days, they added.
