No loadshedding was being carried out in industrial areas of Karachi confirmed Division Director, Customer Service of Karachi Electric Supply Corporation (KESC), Jamil Gul in a meeting with Vice President of Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI), Akbar Abdullah held here on Friday at the Federation House.
Any power breakdown in any industrial area or factory could be due to localised fault in the respective grid station, KESC official specifically stated. He also informed the VP of FPCCI that KESC has placed orders for 800 MW power generators, which will be received and installed by the end of 2007 and power situation will improve accordingly.
KESC Director also stated that Customer Service Centres were being reorganised by increasing manpower and telephones to attend to public complaints about power breakdowns. KESC has also initiated a pilot project to check 'kunda' system or illegal electric connections under which electricity cables were being replaced with aerial bundle cables from which it will be difficult to operate a 'kunda'.
The meeting was also attended by Chairman FPCCI Standing Committee on Public Utilities, Asghar A Morawala and Chairman FPCCI Standing Committee on Sales Tax, Sheikh Shakeel Ahmed Dhingra.
