The rupee failed to maintain its firmness in the open market on Friday, dropping 10 paisa versus the dollar for buying and selling at 60.70 and 60.80, respectively. Continued demand for dollars did not allow the rupee to hold its firmness, dealers said.
The rupee shed five paisa versus the euro for buying and selling at Rs 76.35 and Rs 76.45, respectively. In the international markets, the dollar gave up its firmness as policy makers could not give the significant sign of further rise in the US interest rate in the near future, dealers said.
INTERBANK RATE: Rang-bound trading was seen as the rupee did not move sharply versus the dollar for buying and selling at 60.30 and 60.32, they said.
