Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Dr Sher Afgan Khan Niazi said on Friday that President General Pervez Musharraf had taken detailed account of the internal issues and the situation in Middle East following Israeli aggression against Lebanon in his address to nation.
Speaking in a PTV programme, he said that President highlighted the dangers of Israeli action, saying it might disturb regional and international peace. "The President reminded the international community about its urgent role in the prevailing conditions as a dire need of the hour," he said.
He said the President rightly noted that the security of a nation was related to its internal integrity. He also took detailed account of the development activities in the country and showed a beam of hope to nation for better future.
Explanation of short, medium and long terms measures for the development of power generating infrastructure was another feature of the President's address, which would of course encourage the local and foreign investors to do more business in country, the Minister said.
Sher Afgan also appreciated the President's resolve for peaceful solution of the problems in FATA and Balochistan without compromising on government's writ, adding, strengthening of jirga system in tribal areas would yield better results. To a question, he said ups and downs in stock exchange business was a routine matter and the government had nothing to do in this connection.
He said the phenomenon was not the Pakistan-specific, rather the stock exchanges in our neighbouring countries, including India also faced such conditions. Sher Afgan said that rise in sugar prices had of course affected the common man in country, but due to prompt and appropriate handling of the issue by government, the situation was getting normal.
