The lineup of vessels waiting to load sugar in Brazilian ports dropped to 45 from last week's 51, shipping agent Williams said Thursday. It said in a weekly report that 36 vessels were lined up in the southern port of Santos, down from 40 last week.
In north-eastern Brazil, there were three vessels at Maceio, compared with two last week, and one at Recife, the same as a week ago. The center-south, which accounts for 88 percent of national output, started cutting a forecast record cane crop in March and will continue until December. Santos port accounted for 87 percent of sugar tonnage being loaded in Brazilian ports.
