Punjab Minister for Power, Chaudhry Armughan Subhani said that Electric Inspectors have received 1086 public complaints against Electric Distribution Companies out of which 889 have been redressed. This was stated by him while chairing the meeting of Electric Inspectors of the Punjab at his office here.
The meeting was attended by the Chief Engineer Power Chaudhry Muhammad Yaqoob and Director Technical Iftikhar Ahmed Randhawa, says a handout issued here on Sunday.
The minister said the government of the Punjab has established the offices of Electric Inspectors at Multan, Lahore, Islamabad, Gujranwala and Faisalabad to redress the complaints of the consumers against Electric Distribution Companies.
He said that these offices are working under the umbrella of Nepra Act Rule-38 to monitor the electric meters, billings and rates of electricity in the province. He said these offices can impose fine against Distribution Companies to the tune of Rs 50,000 on the charge of contempt. Subhani said that electric inspectors received 1086 cases from consumers against electric distribution companies, out of which 889 cases have been decided during last year.
