District Coordination Officer Multan Syed Iftikhar Babur has asked the police and administration to launch a vigorous drive against the Internet cafes in order to check obscenity and pornography, because crimes are increasing day by day due to obscenity.
Talking to newsmen here on Sunday he said that a crackdown against the Internet cafes is on the cards, as the city police have been directed to step up their efforts in this regard, he said.
The DCO said that police officials along with the computer experts would conduct raids on the Internet cafes all over the city to check the programming, stop the misuse of computers and block the pornographic websites.
"We have decided to accelerate the crackdown against pornography through community policing, parents and by involving the local public representatives in this campaign," Iftikhar Babur said.
"We will also take a strict action against the owners of the Internet cafes, promoting obscenity and vulgarity in the city, he maintained. He further said the city police would also launch a crackdown against the billiard clubs to curb gambling. Most of the billiard clubs have become a kind of gambling dens in the city, where the youngsters not only gamble but also sit there till late at night to commit street crimes, the police chief added.
