NWFP Governor Lieutenant-General Ali Muhammad Jan Aurakzai (Retd) and Chief Minister Akram Khan Durrani held a meeting at Governor House here on Monday and expressed satisfaction over the pace of progress on peace initiatives in Fata.
They also discussed law and order situation, particularly in the southern part of the province and reiterated their determination to fully co-ordinate with each other in this respect. Deployment of FC Platoons particularly along border areas between Fata and the settled districts was also noted as welcoming sign with regard to ensuring safety and security of the people of the respective areas. This, it was added, would definitely bring far-reaching results and a positive impact on over all peace process both in the province and Fata.
The Governor also presided over a separate meeting, which besides Chief Minister Akram Khan Durrani was also attended by the Chief Secretary, Ejaz Ahmad Qureshi, Additional Chief Secretary, Ghulam Dastagir Akhtar, Secretary Administration, Colonel Ghulam Hussain (Retd), Secretary Finance, Zia-ur-Rehman, and Secretary to Governor, Arbab Muhammad Arif.
The meeting decided to reconstruct the historic building of Abbottabad based Frontier Rest House, which is known as the old Commissioner's House, and has been badly damaged in the recent devastated Earthquake.
Similarly, the meeting also reviewed the prevailing state of affairs of the government buildings particularly the condition of the rest houses both at Abbottabad as well as Nathiagali and decided to take emergent measures for their rehabilitation and renovation.
It was also decided to look into the possibility to take new initiatives to further expand and upgrade the accommodation facilities to meet the additional requirements.
Speaking on the occasion, the Governor expressed the desire that keeping in the view the historic importance of the Abbottabad based Frontier Rest House, its historic architectural outlook should be kept intact to the maximum extent, while preparing the new design, and services of a reputed architect should be hired through proper process for the purpose.
He said, we must also ensure complete transparency in all respects and efforts should be made not only to ensure proper maintenance of government assets but also their transparent utilisation as well.
Talking on the occasion, Chief Minister Akram Khan Durrani said that there exist quite a good number of government buildings and precious assets in the shape of rest houses especially at Nathiagali which require proper care and concrete initiatives not only for their rehabilitation and further improvement but also to develop new assets as well.
Due attention for their protection and expansion can convert them into more precious resources not only to meet future requirements of government for a long time but also for the image building of province as well, he added.
Meanwhile, the Secretary Administration, Colonel Ghulam Hussain (Retd) while briefing the meeting about the prevailing condition of the government buildings both at Abbottabad as well as Nathiagali especially the Abbottabad based Frontier House also highlighted the geographical importance of the area.
