National Core Group in chemistry in collaboration with the GC University Lahore, on Monday organised a lecture. Professor Dr Masood Pervaiz from the University of Calgary, Canada lectured on the "X-ray Crystallography and its Applications". He gave an overview of synchrotron light and described the causes of fluorescence.
He also discussed the beam line operations ie, infrared beam lines, soft X-ray beam lines and hard X-ray beam lines. Speaking on the occasion, Dean of Science GC University Lahore Professor Dr M.A. Kashmiri said that purpose of arranging such lecture was to update the knowledge of the students and teachers in the field of X-ray crystallography. He announced that the single crystal difractrometer would soon be installed in the chemistry department of the university.
