Khalid Mirza, a senior official of the World Bank and former chairman, Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP), has assumed the charge of Monopoly Control Authority (MCA) chairman, a press release issued here on Friday said.
The appointment of Mirza has been made keeping in view of his excellent performance as SECP chairman during 2001-03 where he had implemented major capital market and corporate sector reforms.
The government had already decided to convert MCA into Competition Authority to enhance the performance of the organisation, particularly addressing the issues of cartelisation and to protect the rights of the consumers.
