He said that keeping in view the public commuting problems in the area, the city government had planned to construct the badly needed road. The road would link Super highway with Surjani Chowrangi, he said, and added that he had approved the plan which would be initiated shortly.
Regarding investment-friendly environment in the city, he said around $90 million foreign investment had been made during last nine months. He said the city government would also provide facilities and incentives to those domestic investors who are interested in investment in the city.
Kamal said that early completion of K-III 100-mgd water project had eased the water problem in the city, otherwise electricity crisis-like situation would have emerged.
For providing the low-cost houses to people, he said that soon after holding of the draws for the 80 square yards plots in Taisar town housing scheme, construction work on infrastructure had been initiated. The Taisar town project would provide safe shelter to thousands of people in the city, he added.
Meanwhile, chairperson of Primary Education Committee, Shamim Akhtar, has said that the city government would hold pre-primary classes at city government's schools in August.
She said the city government was making every possible effort to develop the education sector besides the provision of other basic civic facilities to general public. In order to encourage the teaching staff of the schools, the year's best teacher award would be given to teachers on remarkable performance, she added.
Urging the high-ups of the education department, Shamim said they should work for the development of education to compete with the private sector.
