Chief Meteorologist, Metrological Department Lahore, Shaukat Awan said on Friday that there was no imminent threat of water rising beyond the safety level in Mangla and Terbella dams.
Speaking at a PTV programme he said, rains had very meagre effect on the flow of water in Terbella dam while flow of 200,000-300,000 cusec feet in Jehlum river raised the water level in Mangla dam by one foot.
He said, that Mangla dam had a 1202 feet water conservation level and presently the water level in the reservoir was 12 feet below this mark. He said the dam had the ability to release the same amount of water that flowed into it.
Shaukat said that all the relevant departments were monitoring the water flow situation in the rivers and they remained in close contact with each other.
To a question he said that relevant departments of India and Pakistan were in constant contact and up-to-date information about the water flow in rivers were being shared.
