Poultry sellers kept the shutters down on Saturday to protest the fixation of meat prices at Rs 110 per kilogram by the city district government. "We can't sell chicken meat at this price as it costs us above Rs 120 per kilogram," said Shahid Ahmad, a Sanda Road poultry seller.
Poultry prices, which had dipped to as low as Rs 40 per kilogram in the wake of bird flu fears in March last, had been on the rise ever since.
