Al-Shifa Trust Eye Hospital plans to establish its fourth hospital at a cost of Rs 250 million at Quetta. A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between Balochistan Chief Secretary K. B. Rind and Al-Shifa Trust Eye Hospitals' President General Jahandad Khan (retd) here on Sunday.
According to the agreement, the Balochistan government has provided eight acres land free of cost to the Al-Shifa Trust for the construction of hospital to be completed in 2009.
Talking to media persons, Al-Shifa Trust Eye Hospital President Jahan Dad Khan said, "the establishment of this hospital at Quetta is a part of the Al-Shifa Trust Eye Hospital's master plan of establishing state-of-the-art eye hospitals in all four provinces".
He further said that three of Al-Shifa Trust eye-care centres were already in operation at Rawalpindi, Sukkur and Kohat. Balochistan Chief Secretary K. B. Rind said the land allocated for the Eye hospital was located at Al-Baroni Road near Bollan Medical College.
Al-Shifa Trust Eye Vice-President Hospital Saeed Qureshi said, "The construction work on the hospital will be undertaken in early 2007 and the project will be completed and commissioned by the mid of 2009 at a cost of about Rs 250 million." He said the hospital would be constructed on the standard of Al-Shifa Trust Eye Hospital Rawalpindi, adding the community programs, postgraduate courses, researches and human recourse development programs for doctors and subspecialties would also be conducted.
He appreciated the Balochistan government, saying it was gesture of humanity from the Balochistan government that would go a long way in providing modern eye care services to the people of the province. Khawaja Naeem senior member board of revenue and Mian Javed were also present on the occasion.
