An angry mob on Monday night attacked Peshawar Electricity Supply Company (Pesco)'s Grid Station in Jala, district Mardan and burnt several vehicles including truck, tractor and important installations including Relay Channel, and other precious equipments.
The angry protestors also damaged doors, windows, cupboard and put official record on fire, resultantly power supply from all the 7 feeders emerging from Jalala Grid Station were badly affected which disrupted power supply to Mardan, Takht Bhai, Katlang and Jalala
According to details received 11 KV Harichand feeder from 132 KV Grid Station Jalala got overloaded resultantly main cable melted and fell on the ground in the evening of 31st July and power was disrupted. Pesco's technical teams rushed to the area and started rehabilitation work to restore power supply to the area. But as it was not an easy task and needed some time for its repairing and fixing of new cables.
The miscreants taking advantage from this event gathered group of hundreds of people and exploited the situation for their ill designs and took procession and chanted slogans against Wapda / Pesco. This mob attacked on 132 KV Jalala Grid Station and severely damaged Pesco Grid Station worth of millions of rupees, due to which power supply from Jalala Grid Station disrupted and people, had to face inconvenience due to these miscreants. S.E. GSO Malik Sadiq Awan along with Pesco technical staff had rushed the site late night and has started the rehabilitation work on war footing basis, as directed by Chief Executive Pesco Brigadier Sakhi Marjan.
Such damage by the mob has been strongly condemned by Chief Executive Pesco and Law enforcing agencies have been asked to take prompt action against the culprits. A case had also been registered against the miscreants at concerned Police Station. About 40 persons had been arrested so far and efforts are continued for arresting the others. Pesco had requested the provincial government to take strong action so that like incidents may not occur in future, which not only leads to the loss of millions of rupees but also public has to face inconvenience by the hands of such miscreants.
