India must improve human rights (HR) situation in Occupied Kashmir, as it is imperative for achieving lasting peace in the region. Convenor All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) Syed Yousuf Naseem on Wednesday told PTV that India must end state terrorism against the people of Kashmir, as their various human rights organisations were demanding the same.
He termed the resignation of chairman human rights commission of Occupied Kashmir as a positive development. It proved that the Indians in IOK are committing human right violations.
As many as 800,000 occupation forces have made torture cell the whole of IOK. Youth are being tortured in joint interrogation cells. Army is holding the whole population of occupied valley as hostage. But the commitment of people has increased due to the torture. It has increased their resolve to freedom, he said.
Rape is being used as a weapon of war. Mental and physical torture is widespread. But it is very difficult to crush popular movements through use of force.
Peace in the region cannot be achieved without resolving the core Kashmir issue. International community wanted to invest in the region. They also want resolution of the issue. European Union in its latest report has declared that the resolution of Kashmir dispute is must for alleviation of poverty from the South Asian region.
