Pakistan on Wednesday rejected as baseless a report by an official of Indian news agency- (Press Trust of India) that Pakistan would oppose extension of South Asian Free Trade Agreement (Safta) benefits to Afghanistan.
Foreign Office Spokesperson Tasnim Aslam in a statement here said, "The PTI report was part of disinformation campaign", adding that Pakistan had not opposed the extension of Safta benefits to Afghanistan.
She said, "Pakistan fully supports Afghanistan's integration into the South Asian Association for Regional Co-operation (Saarc)." The spokesperson said that at 13th Saarc Summit held in Dhaka in November 2005, Pakistan had proposed Afghanistan's membership of the Saarc.
