Prime Commercial Bank Limited (PCBL) has planned to open three more Islamic banking windows in Islamabad, Faisalabad and Quetta in next month to tap the potential of Islamic banking products.
Stating this, Country Head of the Prime Islamic Banking, Mazhar Ali Bokhari told Business Recorder here Thursday that this decision was taken after receiving encouraging response from the public which is showing keen interest for the services of Islamic banking of the Prime Commercial Bank. 'We have just opened a branch exclusively for the Islamic banking in Karachi', he added.
'There is a lot of clientele potential and products of Islamic banking are gaining rapid popularity among the masses. The PCBL management is also planning to open more Islamic banking windows in Multan, Peshawar and Rahim Yar Khan in next year', he said.
To a question, Bokhari said that we would use the existing infrastructure to provide Islamic banking services in other cities rather than bearing extra financial burden for raising new infrastructure. We would only depute staff of Prime Islamic Bank to provide services on these windows. However, after achieving desired results in term of performance of these windows, status of an independent branch would be given to exclusively deal with the Islamic banking products in these cities, he maintained.
The Islamic banking system is making its room in the market and keeping in view this fact, we would also set up another branch of Islamic banking in Lahore, he said. He stressed the need for creating awareness about the Islamic banking products, which are more beneficial for the public.
