The Karachi International Container Terminal (KICT) Authority has agreed to conduct examination of imported goods in the presence of representatives of Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), Sultan Mahmood Chairman, Import and Anti Smuggling Sub-Committee of KCCI said this during a meeting of the committee held here on Thursday.
He said for examination purpose the KCCI has establish a three member committee headed by him to witness the examination of goods and present a report to the president of KCCI in this respect.
He said that the chamber has received several complaints regarding mishandling of imported goods during examination which generally damage the goods.
He that the issue of damaged imported goods during examination was discussed at length with custom and KICT authorities and it was decided that the goods would be examined in the presence of KCCI representatives.
