Marginal gain was seen in the interbank market on Friday as corrective measures helped the rupee to retain its firmness for buying and selling at 60.29 and 60.31, respectively. The deakers said that dollars' supply was comfortable which helped the rupee to hold its present position.
In the world markets, the dollar was firm versus the major currencies ahead of US economic data, dealers said.
OPEN MARKET RATES: The rupee gained three paisa against the dollar for buying and selling at 60.70 and 60.75, they said.
The rupee shed nine paisa versus the euro for buying and selling at Rs 76.79 and Rs 76.89, dealers said.

RUPEE IN LAHORE: The rupee maintained downward trend as it lost its value by 5-paisa in relation to the greenback in the local currency markets on Friday.
According to the currency dealers, the dollar witnessed surge in its demand, which pushed its value up. The dollar's trading commenced at overnight closing rates of Rs 60.70 and Rs 60.80 on buying and selling counters, respectively. At the end of trading, the dollar moved up and closed at Rs 60.75 and Rs 60.85 on buying and selling sides, respectively, the dealers added.
Likewise, the local currency remained under pressure and depreciated its value against the pound sterling. The British pound resumed trading at Rs 113.10 and Rs 113.40 on buying and selling sides, respectively. The pound kept moving up throughout the day and finally closed higher at Rs 113.70 and Rs 114.10, the dealers added.
RUPEE IN ISLAMABAD AND RAWALPINDI: The rupee-dollar parity remained unchanged at the open currency markets of Islamabad and Rawalpindi on Friday.
The dollar opened at Rs 60.90 (buying) and Rs 61 (selling) against same last rate. It did not observe any further change in the evening session and closed at Rs 60.90 (buying) and Rs 61 (selling).
Pound sterling opened at Rs 112.80 (buying) and Rs 113 (selling) against same previous rate. It did not witness any change in the second session and closed at Rs 112.80 (buying) and Rs 113 (selling).
