Soft red winter wheat futures at the Chicago Board of Trade were mostly higher at midsession on Friday, supported by concerns about tight US wheat supplies, traders said.
Dryness in the southern US Plains was raising concerns about next year's hard red winter wheat crop ahead of fall planting, while hot and dry weather has shrunk the US spring wheat crop.
As of 11:45 am CDT (1640 GMT), CBOT September wheat was up 3-1/2 cents at $3.98-3/4 per bushel, with deferred months up 4 to down 3 cents.
