Major Japanese companies posted a 15 percent jump in their group current profits in the April-June quarter from the same period in 2005, the Nihon Keizai (Nikkei) business daily reported on Saturday.
Nikkei said 932 listed firms had posted a 15 percent rise in their group profits, with electric appliance firms extending their profits on the back of strong demand for flat-screen televisions and trading houses cashing in on rises in prices for energy and resources.
The weak yen against the dollar and euro also helped export-oriented companies such as automobile firms and precision equipment manufacturers, it said.
