In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, has urged India to resolve Kashmir dispute in line with the wishes of Kashmiris, so that they can live with peace and dignity, reports Kashmir Media Service.
Addressing a big gathering on the occasion of the Foundation Day of "Nusrat-ul-Islam", at Razi Kadal in Srinagar, Mirwaiz said that the institution has played a pivotal role in educating people and creating political awareness among the masses. Nusrat-ul-Islam laid the foundation of ongoing liberation struggle, he added.
The APHC Chairman regretted that educational institutions have been under occupation of Indian military for the last seventeen years and called for immediate pullout of troops from these institutions. He pointed out that the occupation of school and college buildings had adversely affected the education of children.
Expressing grave concern over the stepped-up Indian state-terrorism in the occupied territory, he urged India to stop human rights abuses and create conducive atmosphere for talks with Pakistan on Kashmir to make progress.
Mirwaiz Umar Farooq urged India to reciprocate Pakistan's positive proposals of demilitarisation and self-governance in Kashmir and resume talks process with Pakistan, as it was the only civilised way to solve problems.
