Nazim Karachi, Syed Mustafa Kamal has said that City District Government (CDGK) was taking steps for strengthening the Town Administrations. While all possible assistance will be extended in development schemes, steps were in hand to provide the town and UC administrations required machinery and made them self-sufficient in this, under a phased programme so that basic problems were solved at local levels."
Nazim Karachi paid a detailed visit to city's various areas on Sunday night and inspected the work done with the help of newly supplied machinery and reviewed the situation arising after rains.
Recently the Nazim had provided six tractor trolleys to Liaquatabad Town besides two tractor loaders purchased costing Rs 6.6 million, which would help improve the sanitary conditions in this Town.
Mustafa Kamal said that improvement would be brought in every town and besides provision of necessary machinery, all help will also be extended in development schemes. He said the City Government has allocated Rs 9.6 million at the UC level, which would soon be spent on city's uplift.
"We don't want to work in an artificial manner, but wants development of the city in the right direction. He said the benefits of the projects, launched so far and would reach the people soon.
Nazim Karachi said that overall city's situation was under control and stagnant rainwater was being drained out with round the clock work. He said water stranded only on few roads and all necessary measures were taken for its disposal.
He said Liaquatabad, Gharibabad, Nazimabad Underpasses, Hasan Square, National Stadium, Karsaz and PAF Flyovers would change the city's destination and would prove beneficial in smooth flow of traffic.
He pointed out that at I.I. Chundrigar Road, water accumulated on a small portion of the road. It was an important road where head offices of banks and important business centres were located and it was painful that it don't have any rain water disposal system.
Mustafa Kamal said that recently CDGK completed Abul Ispahani road project, which could be presented as a model road on which rain water did not accumulate anywhere.
According to him 90 percent work on one track of underpasses had been completed. It suffered a little delay because of rains but the project will soon be completed.
He pointed out that sewerage water was drained out from under-constriction Liaquatabad underpass after five days of untiring efforts and for which all resources were employed with a leading role played by Fire Brigade staff.
He said the 42-inch dia pipeline, which was damaged due to land sliding had been repaired and it will be replaced or shifted after the project was completed.
