Punjab Chief Secretary, Salman Siddique has said that Punjab was moving ahead economically because of its fiscal discipline. He was talking to the Principal Officer of the American Consulate, Bryan D. Hunt who called on him, here on Tuesday, disclosed an official.
The Chief Secretary told the US diplomat that the programmes that had been initiated to provide social services including education and health facilities had started yielding encouraging results. Above all, the Chief Minister had set up an effective system for the monitoring of the same, he added.
Briefing Hunt on the procedure of transfer of financial resources to the district governments, the Chief Secretary pointed out that under the new system; the district governments were discharging their responsibilities successfully.
