Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz will be inaugurating another train service named Buraq Express from Rawalpindi to Karachi on August 14, in a bid to provide comfortable and fast travelling services to people. Federal Minister for Railways, Sheikh Rashid Ahmed stated this while addressing a press conference, here on Wednesday.
'Pakistan Railways is attaching priority to provide modern travelling facilities to the people and is utilising all the available resources', he said.
He further said that Pakistan railways had signed an agreement with the National Bank of Pakistan to provide loans to railways employees for getting transport, construction of house, dowry of daughters and imparting higher education to their children. Railway employees would be able to get loan equal to their 15 advance salaries, he added.
He said that railway management had facilitated its pensioners as from now onward they would get pensions at the bank with honour and dignity.
He said that Pakistan railways would rehabilitate as many as 100 passenger coaches.
To a question, he said that pursuant to directions of the president, Chinese engineers had been asked to remove the faults found in the passenger coaches imported from China.
To another question, he said that Pakistan Railways had to suffer Rs 100 million loss due to suspension of rail service from Karachi after damage to Ran Pathani Bridge. Refunds of Rs 10 million were made to the passengers against the tickets, he added.
