With a view to creating greater awareness about women's rights, rehabilitation and empowerment, the Punjab government is imparting training to 16,000 women councillors of the province.
This was revealed by Ashifa Riaz Fatyana, Punjab Minister for Women Development & Human Rights, at the concluding session of a 4-day training workshop of UC women councillors, here on Wednesday.
From a total of 383 women councillors in district Toba Tek Singh, 60 have so far got the training, she said, adding ensuring 33-percent women representation in assemblies and local governments, providing due rights to women and ensuring their empowerment and partnership in the national development process, reflects this government's dedication to the cause of women development.
