South African gold output fell 9.5 percent in volume terms while overall minerals production declined 1.2 percent in June compared with the same month the previous year, official data showed on Thursday.
Production of non-gold minerals rose by 0.5 percent in June, Statistics South Africa added. In May, year-on-year gold sales rose 39.4 percent to 2.6 billion rand ($385.5 million), sales of non-gold minerals increased by 7.2 percent to 11.1 billion rand and total mineral sales gained 12.1 percent to 13.7 billion rand, a statement on www.statssa.gov.za said.
