The annual election of Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) for 2006-07 will be held in September for 15 managing committee seats falling vacant due to retirement of members.
A meeting of KCCI managing committee will be held on August 12, 2006 to consider and approve the election schedule, appoint a three-member scrutiny committee, and appointment of returning officer and poling offers.
According to proposed schedule, election on 15 vacant seats of managing committee and president of KCCI will be held on September 16, 2006 Election of senior vice president and vice presidents will be held on September 27, 2006 and annual general meeting of KCCI will be held on September 30, 2006
The election committee will start receiving nominations from September 1, 2006 and last date for receiving nominations has been proposed as September 7, 2006. Last dated of withdrawal of nomination papers will be September 11, 2006. Those who will be retiring are: President KCCI Haroon Farooki, Vice President Muhammad Naqi Bari, Abrar Ahmed, Muhammad Javed Bilwani, Sultan Chawla, Javed Ahmed , Hafeez Aziz, Shakeel-ur-Rahman, Yusuf Surmawala, H M Shahzad, Fazle Rubbi, Tariq Malik, Mohammed Ali and Mohammed Khan.
A member of KCCI said that Ramazam is going to fall in mid-September, and suggested that KCCI management should complete election before start of Ramazan.
