Foolproof secrecy system and high quality paper marking procedure has been introduced while uniform question papers will be set for matriculation exams in all boards of intermediate and secondary education throughout the province from next year.
This was revealed by Punjab Education Minister Imran Masood while talking to newsmen at the award giving ceremony held in honour of position holders in secondary school examination 2006 of Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) here on Thursday. The minister said the government was taking steps to introduce common education system throughout the province.
Earlier, while addressing the function, Imran Masood maintained the government had taken a number of initiatives to enhance quality and standard of education in the province and to enhance credibility and image of the institutions.
He said the government was providing free textbooks to the students at its schools and it had started supply of free textbooks in selected "pro-poor" schools in the private sector.
Speaking on the occasion, BISE Lahore Chairman Muhammad Zakria Butt highlighted efforts being made for the elimination of 'Booti mafia' and improving standard of examination. He added that the number of affiliated institutions with BISE Lahore had risen to 1,000 from 455 in last three years.
