US cocoa futures ended mixed Friday, with contract switching and spread trading taking the spotlight ahead of the first notice for September delivery next week, market sources said.
The New York Board of Trade's cocoa contract for September delivery gained $2 to settle at $1,559 per tonne after trading from $1,544 to $1,567. The top trade was the position's loftiest price since July 17 and $1 north of Thursday's peak.
Benchmark December slipped $4 to $1,602 and back-month contracts eased $1 to $2.
