An eight-member delegation of Balochistan-based leading fruits and vegetables' exporters of Pakistan will arrive in Bangladesh on August 16 for a three-day tour. A press release of Pakistan High Commission here said that an eight-member fruit and vegetable exporters would visit Bangladesh to explore and expand markets there.
The objective of the delegation's visit to Bangladesh is to meet the importers, the distributors, cold storage owners and fruit processors around Dhaka for potential joint ventures in the sector, the press release said.
The delegates would also survey the wholesale fruit markets to expand the opportunities of exporting fresh and dry fruits to Bangladesh, it added.
The delegates grow and deal in all kinds of fruits and vegetables produced in Balochistan. The exporters exported among others apples, kinno, pomegranates, grapes, dates, kishmish, and dry fruits etc. They were large fruit growers and exporters to Afghanistan and Iran etc.
Pakistan's export of fruits to Bangladesh was worth 615, 000 dollars comprising of apples, grapes, pears, pomegranates, dates both fresh and dry, kishmish and kinnos (oranges). The total export of fruits from Pakistan in 2004-05 was 112 million dollars, which shows an increasing trend.
The leading countries where Pakistani fruits are exported are India, Germany, United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, United Kingdom, Singapore, Oman, Canada, Russia, Sri Lanka, Philippines, Norway, United States of America, Denmark, Netherlands, Sweden, Bahrain, Hong Kong, France, Belgium, Iran, Japan, Qatar, China, Italy, Lithuania, Malaysia, Malta, South Africa, Czech Republic, Mauritius, Cyprus, Switzerland etc.
