The lineup of vessels waiting to load sugar in Brazilian ports rose to 48 from last week's 46, shipping agent Williams said Thursday. In a weekly report, it said 40 vessels were lined up in the southern port of Santos, up from 39 last week.
The center-south, which accounts for 88 percent of national output, started harvesting in March. By July 16, 41 percent of a forecast record center-south can crop of 375 million tonnes had been crushed, the Sao Paulo Cane Agroindustry Union (Unica) said Monday. Santos port accounted for 90 percent of sugar tonnage being loaded in Brazilian ports.
