The stage set for Independence Day celebrations and all arrangements have been completed in Multan and other parts of southern Punjab, all institutions and individuals are playing their part, which speaks volumes for the fact that the spirit of independence is alive and not subsided.
A fireworks demonstration was organised by District Government in Qasim Bagh while a motorcycle rally was organised on Sunday by Pakistan Muslim League Youth Wing.
All government, semi-government departments' buildings, banks, hotels, shopping centre and bazaars were decorated with colourful buntings, national flags and all were illuminated at night. A Sham-i-Ghazal was also organised by a social welfare organisation in Arts Council.
All the government or non-government organisations will organise a series of functions including exhibitions, seminars. Besides, highlighting the contributions of Pakistan Movement leaders, the speakers will pay tributes to Quaid-e-Azam, who accomplished the dream of a separate homeland for Muslims, visualised by the great poet, Allama Muhammad Iqbal.
SECURITY BEEFED UP: Law enforcing agencies stepped up security in Punjab fearing terror attacks ahead of the country's Independence Day, officials said.
In Multan, Bahawalpur, Dera Ghazi Khan, Rahimyar Khan, Sahiwal, and other towns a massive police force was guarding the important buildings, churches, mosques, historical Clock Tower (Ghanta Ghar) of Multan on Sunday.
Elite Force and police were also patrolling in the city while commandos were deployed at "sensitive buildings" - railway stations, markets and cinemas. While close circuit camera were installed in Cantonment and city areas to keep vigilant on the activities of the miscreants.
