The rupee did not move sharply versus the dollar in the interbank market on Tuesday for buying and selling at 60.30 and 60.32, respectively.
The rupee made small gain versus the dollar though the demand for dollar was higher as the all the commercial centres re-opened after observing long weekend on account of the Independence Day holiday, they said. In the world markets, the dollar was lower against the major currencies ahead of the inflation data.
OPEN MARKET RATES: The rupee maintained the weekend levels in terms of dollar for buying and selling at 60.50 and 60.55, they said.
But the rupee shed 10 paisa versus the euro for buying and selling at Rs 76.57 and Rs 76.67, respectively.

RUPEE IN LAHORE: The rupee depreciated its worth by five-paisa in relation to the greenback in the local currency markets on Tuesday.
According to the currency dealers, the dollar commenced trading at Saturday's closing rates of Rs 60.50 and Rs 60.60 as its buying and selling rates, respectively. As a result of marginal increase in dollar's demand, its rate moved up and closed at Rs 60.55 and Rs 60.65 on buying and selling counters, respectively, the dealers added.
However, the local currency showed strength and improved its value against the pound sterling. The British pound was purchased at Rs 113.60 and was sold at Rs 114.00 as compared to Rs 113.80 and Rs 114.30 of Saturday, the dealers added.
RUPEE IN ISLAMABAD AND RAWALPINDI: The rupee was up by 5 paisa against the dollar at the currency exchange establishments of twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi on Tuesday.
The dollar resumed trading at Rs 60.55 (buying) and Rs 60.65 (selling) against same last week's rate. Ever-favourite greenback did not observe any further change in the evening session and closed at Rs 60.55 (buying) and Rs 60.65 (selling).
Pound sterling opened at opened at Rs 113.80 (buying) and Rs 114 (selling) against last week's rate of Rs 114.50 (buying) and Rs 115.70 (selling). It remained firm in the evening session and closed at Rs 113.80 (buying) and Rs 114 (selling).
