Information Minister Muhammad Ali Durrani on Wednesday made it clear that Pakistan Steel Mills would be privatised, adding those opposing the privatisation of the PSM have personal interests in it.
Addressing a news conference here in the Parliament House cafeteria, he accused the opposition of committing contempt of the court by giving wrong interpretation of the verdict of the Supreme Court.
He said the opposition did not like the decision of the SC on PSM privatisation because they know if the SC would be made much empowered then how they could attack on it. Durrani said that in the last seven years there was no corruption charges on the president as well as PM Shaukat Aziz.
He criticised the PPP leadership that in Pakistan they did not own Surrey Palace but in abroad they do claim its ownership. He said there were decisions against Benazir Bhutto and Nawaz Sharif by the courts when they were in power and questioned whether they resigned.
Durrani said that in future there would be no change without vote and the opposition should learn how to respect the vote. Talking about the no confidence motion, he asked the opposition to bring no confidence move against Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz without any further delay. Durrani said the opposition was just wasting time on the name of no trust move.
He questioned the opposition why they delayed their no confidence move against the PM, as they had promised with the nation to bring the move against the PM on August 1. He said that every day they were giving a new date for the move. Durrani was of the view that opposition just wanted to take the attention of the people by claiming such things but they know their number in the house.
He said the government wanted that opposition should exercise their democratic right by bringing no trust move against the PM. Durrani opined that opposition was wasting precious time of the parliament by making lengthy speeches on non-issues, adding that the opposition should finish its no trust move agenda as early as possible. He said the work of the parliament is to have legislation and government wanted to do a lot of legislation but accused the opposition of hindering.
To a question, that opposition claims of having the support of treasury members during no trust move, Durrani said they must respect the constitution and should read the article 63(a) of the constitution.
