Punjab Bait-ul-Maal Minister Ijaz Shafi has said that with poverty alleviation a top priority, the government has enhanced the grant of Bait-ul-Maal Committee in the province, so that the needy people can be rehabilitated on permanent basis.
He was presiding over a meeting held to review the monthly progress of the department. Bait-ul-Maal and Social Welfare Director General Syed Haider Mehdi briefed the minister regarding last month's progress.
The meeting was informed that during the month of July, Rs 3.8 million had been disbursed among 613 deserving persons, including needy patients, students and non-governmental organisations (NGOs), working on social welfare projects in the province.
