Family members of two personnel of Excise & Taxation Department, who were abducted while performing their official duties, 45 days ago held a demonstration here on Wednesday to press the government for their immediate recovery.
According to protestors, Amir and Asif, who run illicit liquor business, abducted E&T Inspector Syed Muhammad Nadeem Jafferi and Assistant Sub-Inspector Khalid Iqbal. Both the officials went to arrest the criminals but they were kidnapped and had not been released despite passage of 45 days.
The protestors urged the Punjab governor and chief minister to direct IG police to ensure recovery of both the officials and award punishment to the culprits.
