The Sindh Assembly session, which begins here on Friday, will make the relationship of the MQM and other member of the coalition Cabinet with Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim clear.
The Cabinet meeting held at the Chief Minister House on Wednesday was without the participation of the MQM and some other angry minister who chose to remain away to once again register their reservations against the chief minister.
The Sindh Assembly session is scheduled at 9:30 am. It is likely to remain in session till Friday prayers and would be adjourned to meet after two days recess on Monday.
The chief minister has called a meeting of his Cabinet on Saturday at Mithi. It is for the first time that the provincial cabinet is going to meet at Mithi probably to provide the captive participants to meet with each other and create a better understanding of each other's issue. Sources said that it would be a get-together party rather than a serious cabinet meeting.
They said that the agenda for the meeting is predominantly development programmes. The session on Friday would be stormy as the opposition is prepared to raise issues such as civic conditions of the urban as well as rural Sindh after rains, inadequacy of the city district governments of Karachi, Hyderabad and Sukkur to deal with after rain devastation and deteriorating law and order situation with special reference to the increase in street crimes. The Opposition would like to move a motion to discuss privatisation of Pakistan Steel Mills.
